School Newspaper

Alright, so a student did an article called "Bogus music takes over Northview." It really upset me when it was read in choir this morning. I mainly got upset at how he approached it. He didn't research anything; he based his whole article on his opinion and trying to get a laugh.

He talked badly about country, which I somewhat agree with. It mainly all sounds the same, although there is some good country. He says that no one wants to hear about a "hillbilly farmer's" day in chronological order. Don't get me wrong, I don't totally agree with him, but not all country sounds like this.

He also states that "he is tired of hearing John Mayer whine about all of his girl problems and he is as emotional as a woman and sings like a ten-year-old girl." I also agree with this. I don't really like John Mayer.

My problem derives when he says that rap and techno have meaning. Most rap or techno have absolutely no meaning, let alone techno doesn't always have words. I do listen to underground rap/indie, like Atmosphere. They have great lyrics and actual meanings. Rap that is on the mainstream is trash. I used to like it until I actually listened to the words. Lyrics like, "It's so hot up in the club that I ain't go no shoes on," do not take intelligence to come up with.

Many people got offended by this article. Therefore, in his next article, he should probably stick to what he knows, football.

You have to understand, great music will prevail. True music can fight off the hordes of groupies and haters with a sweet riff and or rythmic slur of words.

And about John Mayer, he could have been way worse on him and i think he should have. I detest John Mayer and what he does to Hendrix.
