Short Storayy!

My short story that I'm in the process of finishing is about a mean husband that pushes around his wife, until she gets fed up. This would be categorized as "fighting the monster." I chose to write this short story because I believe that there are many women in this world that get treated poorly.

Women are downgraded everyday. Men think they are so much better than us women and that is really not the case. There may be somethings that men say they'll always be better at, but likewise with us.

Women who are treated poorly need to stand up for themselves and quit letting men push them around, just because that's how it has always been. I don't care how it used to be or what you're used to, stand up for yourself!

Someone in my family influenced me to write this. My grandma is the nicest, most giving person you will ever meet, but since she is used to being treated poorly and demanded around, this is all she knows (this was very common with her generation). One day all of these men who think they are oh so dominant will be over-powered, just wait.

Black Friday

Okay so Black Friday got a little out of hand this year. I didn't go to sleep, I went to Walmart at 3:45 in the morning. I waited forty-five minutes for the vacuum I wanted (I know I sound like an old lady,) but it was bright green and I really liked it. I stood next to some creeper, but I ended up making friends with the people waiting by me. It turns out that I didn't even have to stand there, bored out of my mind, because there were a lot of vacuums left after everyone went crazy.

A man who worked at Walmart in New York City got trampled to death. People get crazy, but Black Friday has been taken to the extreme. I didn't find much that was that great of a deal. I don't really think the deals are that great anymore. I think people need to think about if it's actually worth the time and chaos or not. Well ugh, in conclusion, this world is pretty crazy.

School Newspaper

Alright, so a student did an article called "Bogus music takes over Northview." It really upset me when it was read in choir this morning. I mainly got upset at how he approached it. He didn't research anything; he based his whole article on his opinion and trying to get a laugh.

He talked badly about country, which I somewhat agree with. It mainly all sounds the same, although there is some good country. He says that no one wants to hear about a "hillbilly farmer's" day in chronological order. Don't get me wrong, I don't totally agree with him, but not all country sounds like this.

He also states that "he is tired of hearing John Mayer whine about all of his girl problems and he is as emotional as a woman and sings like a ten-year-old girl." I also agree with this. I don't really like John Mayer.

My problem derives when he says that rap and techno have meaning. Most rap or techno have absolutely no meaning, let alone techno doesn't always have words. I do listen to underground rap/indie, like Atmosphere. They have great lyrics and actual meanings. Rap that is on the mainstream is trash. I used to like it until I actually listened to the words. Lyrics like, "It's so hot up in the club that I ain't go no shoes on," do not take intelligence to come up with.

Many people got offended by this article. Therefore, in his next article, he should probably stick to what he knows, football.

My Favorite Quote

So after I searched and searched for the perfect quote, I realized that "Don't Worry, Be Happy" was the best quote that I live by. I'm in love with Atmosphere, but I couldn't seem to choose the perfect quote because every word that Slug says blows me away.

At any rate, I think this quote really signifies what I believe. I think that there are so many people in this world that need to "chill out" and quit being so uptight. I'm not going to name names, but these people just need to chill. The world could be so much better if everyone would just live by this quote.

When someone is stressed out, they can just think of this quote and automatically get relaxed. I personally try not to get too stressed over things and "just be happy." Sometimes this is hard, but I live by this quote a majority of the time. So just remember this when you're blue,"Don't Worry, Be Happy!" :)

First Amendment

Alright, so everyone has opinions, but not everyone expresses them. I personally like to express mine, I don't know about you. Although, half of the time I don't say what I'm really thinking. That may sound a little contradictory. I just mean that there are some people that I can't really say what I'd actually like to say to them.

A couple weeks ago, my dad, step-mom, and I were arguing about gay marriage. Now mind you, they like to be perceived as if they are all "Christan-like," but don't actually act like it or do the things that people conceive to be "Christan-like." They say that God does not want there to be any homosexual people in this world, therefore there should not be any. My dad said that there has been scientific research done proving that people are not born homosexual, they just acquire a taste for the same sex. I told him he would never know, because he has never had any feelings toward the same sex. He also told me that if a couple of the same sex were kissing or showing any public display of affection in front of my younger sister, that he would say something to them (most likely being derogatory, knowing my dad). I personally think that that is horrible. We're all human and have the same rights.

Every time I talk to my dad or step-mom about things like this, they only see their side and then the both of us get fired up.

Just the other day, the three of us were discussing abortion. I am pro-choice. I believe that a woman should be able to control her own body. They both got angry about it and all they could say is that it's killing a life. My step-mom then said, "Oh we need to pray for you." I responded with, "You guys do NOT pray, go to church, or even act how you're "supposed to," so don't tell me I need to be prayed for."

They think that they need to pray for me because I have my own opinion. They think that they raised me wrong, because I have my own opinion. I don't know if this makes sense to anyone. There is this thing called the First Amendment and one of the rights stated in it is, "Freedom of Speech." Knowing this, I can not seem to comprehend why they blame themselves.

I Hate Nightmares

Unheard Screams
In my dream I was getting taken away.
Pulled down stairs by my feet,
With no sound able to come out of my mouth.
I felt helpless.
I had no one that could hear,
Or help me.

My Brain

My brain is like a twisted road.
My hands are like blocks of steel.
My sarcasm is like a scorching pot.
My mouth is like a speed boat.
My rudeness is like a shot to the heart.
