Alright, so everyone has opinions, but not everyone expresses them. I personally like to express mine, I don't know about you. Although, half of the time I don't say what I'm really thinking. That may sound a little contradictory. I just mean that there are some people that I can't really say what I'd actually like to say to them.
A couple weeks ago, my dad, step-mom, and I were arguing about gay marriage. Now mind you, they like to be perceived as if they are all "Christan-like," but don't actually act like it or do the things that people conceive to be "Christan-like." They say that God does not want there to be any homosexual people in this world, therefore there should not be any. My dad said that there has been scientific research done proving that people are not born homosexual, they just acquire a taste for the same sex. I told him he would never know, because he has never had any feelings toward the same sex. He also told me that if a couple of the same sex were kissing or showing any public display of affection in front of my younger sister, that he would say something to them (most likely being derogatory, knowing my dad). I personally think that that is horrible. We're all human and have the same rights.
Every time I talk to my dad or step-mom about things like this, they only see their side and then the both of us get fired up.
Just the other day, the three of us were discussing abortion. I am pro-choice. I believe that a woman should be able to control her own body. They both got angry about it and all they could say is that it's killing a life. My step-mom then said, "Oh we need to pray for you." I responded with, "You guys do NOT pray, go to church, or even act how you're "supposed to," so don't tell me I need to be prayed for."
They think that they need to pray for me because I have my own opinion. They think that they raised me wrong, because I have my own opinion. I don't know if this makes sense to anyone. There is this thing called the First Amendment and one of the rights stated in it is, "Freedom of Speech." Knowing this, I can not seem to comprehend why they blame themselves.
